Happy Thanksgiving!

I haven’t had (or made) the time to take new pictures and edit. I should start taking some first year teacher’s advice by picking a hobby…otherwise school will continue to take over my life.  Entering the anticipation phase of teaching, I was very hopeful, excited, and enthusiastic. It was an amazing feeling–coming into teaching believing that I can change the world and inspire students.  Little did I know the many obstacles I am facing. Teaching is not just about being strong and passionate in my content knowledge and planning engaging lessons.  It’s about relating to students and also knowing when they are trying to push your limits.  It is about finding a balance in the midst of all the paperwork, lesson plans, never-ending meetings, working in feedback from others while trying to find your own groove.  And just when I thought organization would be easy, I find myself with countless stacks of papers and not knowing what types of systems would work to maintain good organization. These past few months teaching has clouded the countless things I am thankful for–

My family

My dog, teddy

My friends

A warm place to sleep every night

Being a math teacher–a job that challenges me everyday

Coming home to a happy and excited dog

Good food

  1. Teaching is such an important, yet thankless, job. We thank you Jennifer 🙂 Good luck and keep it up!

BTW, lovely picture, quite like the composition!
